Kicad version number upgrade
I just learned that Kicad 5.0.0 has just recently been released as stable:
http://kicad-pcb.org/blog/2018/07/KiCad-...eneration/

When will this new version be available for download in the Neptune 5.3 APT repository?

I am presently using Kicad version 4.0.7, which I downloaded using APT.

RE: Kicad version number upgrade
We never provided that in our apt repository. So I think you have it from the Debian repos. I doubt they will do a major upgrade to this package.

RE: Kicad version number upgrade
Then I will install it when the Downloads. . . Debian link posted on the webpage listed above has a Debian stretch package for kicad 5.0. ( Unless I get very bored and decide to try installing it from source code. ) Right now I have just learned to use kicad 4.0.7 and am just now at the point of becoming productive with kicad 4.0. I will plan to keep the kicad project files I created in kicad 4.0 working on my computer until I install kicad 5.0 and upgrade my 4.0 projects to 5.0. Then I will remove the old version of kicad.
