Libreoffice Writer won't start
I have saved many files as *.odt for printing in libreoffice. Today, when I try to open Libre Office, either from KDE Plasma 5.8.7 Excalibur menu, or from the command line, the small graphical viewport appears on the screen for 2 to 4 seconds, and then disappears, as does that instance of LibreOffice. I found numerous lock files corresponding to the *.odt filenames and renamed them as shown below:
Code:
$ libreoffice oogoo.odt
jethro@neptune1:~$ ls -a1Fdltr .*lock*
-rw-r--r-- 1 jethro jethro 76 Feb  2 13:46 .~lock.oogoo.odt#
jethro@neptune1:~$ mv .~lock.oogoo.odt# lock_oogoo
jethro@neptune1:~$ libreoffice oogoo.odt
jethro@neptune1:~$ ls -Fdltr .~lock*
-rw-r--r-- 1 jethro jethro 76 Feb  2 13:47 .~lock.oogoo.odt#
Even after renaming these lock files, Libreoffice still won't open the files.
Also,
Code:
$ps -A | grep libre
reveals no running instance.
Any idea what is preventing Libreoffice from properly starting ?
and how to fix it ?

RE: Libreoffice Writer won't start
I got libreoffice writer working again by opening a text file in dolphin with it.
No, I have no idea why that worked, but it did. Something about my last file being a .png, maybe.
Now I can open libreoffice writer from the K....Office GUI as usual.
