ZevenOS-Neptune is a ZevenOS distro based fully upon Debian Lenny, except for a newer kernel und drivers. In months of work we developed a very fast and stable system runnable on low end and netbook aswell as on high end machines. The Debian software repositories are updating the included stable software regulary so that you will have a long supported distro.

This version 1.8 is called “Next-Gen” as it aims for the next generation of BeOS users. This might be users which actually never saw BeOS, but want a fast and multimedia capable operating system. Next-Gen stands also for a new Design. We focused on a good look & feel of the overall system. This design surely resembles the MacOS X Look but thats actually not so bad.

The Kernel is a fairly new one with modern hardware support. The rest of the software is almost 100% pure Debian stable, except for the ZevenOS Tools, like MAGI , MAGI 2, Deskbar , Encode , YAVTD, and OpenOffice + OpenShot.

ZevenOS-Neptune includes full Multimedia support with various codecs.

Music:
ZevenOS-Neptune includes various audio applications. If you want to listen to music try audacious. It even works with radio streams on the internet.
If you want to buy or download music and handle large music collections try rhythmbox a fabulous music management tool.
To record podcasts and edit audio files we include Audacity.

Images:
ZevenOS-Neptune includes various tools to view and edit images. If you want to sort and organize your picture collection you can do so with gthumb. It supports easy filters and editing tools aswell as a very good printer manager that allows you print images in different formats. Converting images to different formats is no problem with gthumb.
For professional image editing we include Gimp. Gimp allows you to use professional filters and brushes to edit images in different layers.

Video:
ZevenOS-Neptune includes various video applications. First of all we have a very fast and powerfull media player called gnome-mplayer. It allows you to watch even HQ HD Formats with no pain. Subtitles and their formatting is no problem for gnome-mplayer. Besides viewing videos we also ship with Avidemux a simple but nice video cutting software that includes some filters and optimization tools. Both apps include support for the most common multimedia files.

Video editing:
For video editing ZevenOS-Neptune also includes a fantastic video editor called OpenShot. It comes with many transition and effects preinstalled and supports multiple tracks of video and audio and even has the capability of overlay transparent graphics ontop of a video. Displaying different video streams on the same output is also no problem for this fabulous app. It also includes full multimedia codec support.
