Create a directory .menu in your home folder.
Copy the links from /usr/share/applications to ~/.menu/
If you want to create a submenu, like Multimedia, just create a folder ~/.menu/Multimedia and put your multimedia apps in there.
The menu displays every folder and Freedesktop.desktop compliant files.

Question about the new Deskbar dynamic menu: how is a directory created and how are applications from usr/share/application moved into the menu?

In the next release, I’d like to see an option to attach/detach the menu to the Deskbar just like in good old BEOS. And of course the most frequently used applications could be moved directly into the Deskbar.

Allerdings hast du Recht, das Menü, ist irgendwie kaputt. Sprich wird ohne Icons und Übersetzung angezeigt. Ich fixe das mal und werde hier den Hinweis wegen dem statischen Menü noch hervorheben.

Wie hier in den Hinweisen zu lesen ist musst du dir dein Menü selbst anlegen unterhalb des ~/.menu Ordners.
Willst du das nicht sondern das alte statische Menü musst du den “Trick” mit der versteckten .deskbar_newmenu durchführen.

Aus irgendeinem Grund geht das Menu in der Deskbar nach einem Update gar nicht mehr.
