Tip of the week
Allgemein June 23rd, 2009With this I will start the tip of the week for ZevenOS. Every week I will show you a new tip around ZevenOS.
Here is the first one.
You might know the handy feature while working with many open apps called virtual Desktop or Workspace that allows you to place different applications on different workspaces.
Sometimes its quite annoying when you work fast and start a app like firefox or rhythmbox that takes some time to load. If you then switch to your working workspace for example it might be that firefox pops up and totally fill your working workspace.
To solve this annoying behavior ZevenOS includes a powerfull window manager configuration tool. This will allow you to specify the workspace in which the firefox for example will pop up everytime you start it.
To do so you have to possible options to start this window manager configuration tool:
ZevenOS 1.1: MAGI 2 -> Systemsettings -> WM -> Sawfish Windowmanager
ZevenOS 1.9x: Press Super Button (Win-Button) + Space and type in sawfish-ui
A new window will appear and you need to click on the tab Matched Windows.
Here you can add or edit window behaviors.
In my example I simply added a firefox Option and set the Workspace under the Placement Tab.
There are plenty of other options to choose from.
Have fun
